Check it out: <a href="http://www.cnn.com/2012/04/10/tech/social-media/facebook-uncool-instagram/index.html?hpt=hp_c3" rel="nofollow">CNN</a> uses your Golliath/David terminology!

"...so it's tempting to say that this Goliath-buys-David event is a turning point for Facebook..."

My Star Wars analogy is not enjoying the same popularity (props to you for also noticing a disturbance in The Force), but then again I'm a total nerd like that.

I'm glad for IG getting an infusion of resources — they will definitely benefit from FB's engineering expertise and hosting capabilities. And the statements from both companies indicate things will remain as they are for now (for what that may or may not be worth).

I'm concerned, but also encouraged. Whether or not Instagram continues on forever as it is now, it has opened my eyes to the world of iPhoneography and photo editing apps, which I now enjoy across several networks besides either IG or Facebook.

Although I do spend way less time on Facebook than I used to... wonder why? ;)
